Default removing crankshaft damper

I am replacing the timing belt on my 04 Pac. I am ready to remove the crankshaft damper/main pully and am questioning the pully remover I got on loan. Does anyone have the chysler PN for this tool or can anyone tell me if they just used a normal pully remover. stuck the main bolt through the hole in the main pully. I Ask because the main bolt on the puller is not very much larger than the retaining bolt for the pully and I don't want to mess up the threads in the crank.

Thanks

If the size of the threaded hole in the crankshaft and the bolt in your puller are close enough to cause you concern, I'd suggest getting some type of spacer that just fits in the damper hole and covers the end of the crankshaft so you can push against that with your puller rod rather than against the inside diameter of your crankshaft bolthole. Good luck.

I R&R'd my 3.5L harmonic balancer bunches of times. Always used a loaner puller from O'Reilly's auto parts, worked like a champ with no issues at all. Replaced the balancer w/ a long metric bolt from Ace Hardware store, 3" long w/ short stack of spacing washers.

If using a hardware store bolt to install the pulley, be sure to get a "Grade 8" bolt. You don't want the bolt to break off while you're tightening it. You can tell the strength of a bolt by looking at the head of the bolt. A "Grade 5" bolt will have 3 little radial marks. A "Grade 8" (stronger) will have five marks. No marks means not strong enough to trust for this job.
