I saw your email but I'll reply here. I don't know the 3.5L but 1 thing I would look at is hoses. I've had them leak at the clamp when cold if not real tight. When it cools the rubber contracts & it seeps. As long as you know it's not the waterpump gasket then I would suspect that. Also did you look at the water pump weep hole, even though it's a new pump, the seal could be defective.

I really don't think its the water pump, because the leak is the same. It's a dealer water pump. I guess I'll check the hose. it sure is hard to see.

man those hoses are only 2 years old, surely they would last longer than that. I do have 97k on them though.they have those clamps you have to grip with pliers.
I don't want to take this apart again.

put the dye in the recovery tank. and without running the car, checked leak this morning, and had the dye on my fingers. thought that was kind of odd, since I did not run the car.

Change out the plier type clampsand getscrews type clamps. The hoses need to be pretty tight. As the other user mentioned, they can leak at the clamp under certain conditions. For me it was moving my truck from the driveway to the street so it was only runf for a few minutes but it would leak after I shut it off from the hose that went from pump to lower radior. If I would let it warm up or do a normal drive it would not leak. After I tightened the clamp, it never leaked again.
