Default Thermostat Location and Coolant leak

I have a 2005 Pacifica AWD with a 3.5L engine. I have two questions:

1) Does someone know where the location of the thermostat is? Is it at the intake manifold where the upper radiator connects or is it at the engine block where the lower radiator connects?

2) When the seal on the water pump starts to go on this engine, where will I see the coolant start to leak from? I have a leak coming from the area where the lower radiator hose connects, but it is so darn tight in there I can't even get a mirror in to see the culprit.
