Default 01 PT - CAM sensor replaced but will not start still! HELP

Hi, I've had my 01 for about 2 years now, the other day it just died on the road as I was waiting to make a left-hand turn. Couldn't get it started again, after a computer was hooked to it, it said CAM sensor failure, so my husband just replaced that today yet the car still won't turn. We are wondering what else it could be - is it possible it could be maybe the timing belt? Or does anyone else have any possible other suggestions? The lights, radio, etc., all work, but it just refuses to crank up. Can someone offer some advice on what else it could be?
Thanks in advance!

did he just put a cam sensor in most of the time i put cam and crank in because they work off each other to start the car up. Yeah possable the belt as well there is an inspection hole at teh top of the timing cover ahve some one look at it while some one else is cranking the car over

The cam sensor controls the amount of fuel that is used based on the speed of the camshaft. Your crank sensor controls your ignition circuit and spark control. While each circuit is a stand alone system in its own right....they do work in unison to a point. They feed information to the main computer and from there it activates all of the other systems.
