Default 2001 pt cruiser oil filter placement does it matter?

I have a blowen motor and the oil filter housing is on the oil pan(on the fire wall side of motor). Can i replace the motor with one that has the oil filter housing on the side of the motor (the side with the timing chain). Will it fit or is there clearence issues? any help would be app.
