Default 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Won't Crank

I have a 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser. I had tried to start it today and found that a soon as I started the car the display went black and no crank turned.
I could not jump start the car. I went and got the battery checked and charged. The display was back on and everything seemed to work. i started the car and again, the display went black, no cranking. The battery seems to be low again too.
Any suggestions?

How old is the battery? If it is over 5 years old, I would suggest replacing it regardless of the battery check. The TIPM monitors the voltage and if not sufficient will not activate the relay to start the engine and if low enough, will not activate the display.

The batter is newer than 5 years. I am going to take it out again and see if it has a bad cell tomorrow.

If you have a voltmeter, the battery should read between 12.4 volts and 12.6 volts for a fully charged battery. This is a quick test and is not as comprehensive as a load test.

Just got a new battery. once again, the display came on. the clock started ticking. I turned on the car and it made a tapping noise for maybe 1 second. but now the battery seems completely drained. no cranking. no power whatsoever
