Groan on left turn

Groan on left turn
2002 PT cruiser, touring ed.
On left turn only, near full lock, there is a groan at the right front wheel. sounds like something rubbing, but there is no wear or rub marks in the wheel well or on the wheel/tire. new brakes, new half shafts, new ball joints, struts less than a year old. All fasteners are torqued to spec. It does it regardless of speed, under power and coasting (manual trans, clutch engaged), and only with weight on the tire (not on stands).
I'm thinking wheel bearing or bushings. I'm getting tired of throwing money at the car. Any ideas?
