Default '08 TPMS and Winter rims

Hi there,

I just picked up a new '08 Town & Country LTD (and I love it so far!) and wanted to know how a set of winter tires and rims (without the tpm valve stems) affect the EVIC or the vehicle electronics in general. I would imagine the "check tire pressure" or LOW TIRE PRESSURE message will pop up and stay on until I switch the rims back to the OE ones?

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

I have a '07 Toyota Tacoma with the tire pressure sensors. I purchased upgraded FJ wheels to replace the stock steel Tacoma wheels and had to buy new sensors. However, it took me a few months to install the new sensors, so during that time I just left my old tires/rims with the sensors still in them in the garage. They were close enough to the truck that it kept the light from coming on until I drove the truck for over 4+ hrs away from the sensors. Not sure if it's the same in the Caravan or not.

Interesting about the rims being close enough that it will still activate the TPMS...I was just wondering how much of an annoyance the EVIC or the warnings on the dashboard readout will be if I opt to get a set of winter rims (steel) without any sensors for the TPMS. I mean will it really bug me to the point of wanting to put the stock all seasons BACK ON to shut the system up?

Any Chrysler techs have opinions on this?

Otherwise I suppose I can just leave the OE chromed rims on, but I would hate for my wife to clip a curb or something...[8D]

isn't there a way to turn TPMS off?
would be the easiest thing to do.

I don't believe there is a way to turn it off. I think its a legality thing.
