Question 2.8 CRD fuel filter change/air purge

Hi

My manual is confusing me, I want to change the fuel filter on a 2.8 CRD 2005 Gand voyager.
The fuel filter is at the front of the engine, below the alternator (I think some vehicles also have it near the fuel tank). The manual says there is a valve to purge air from the system after filter change, located just above the alternator, looks like a schrader type valve in the diagram. I can't find it! The (output) pipe from the filter goes straight to the common rail, no valve.
On the left hand side of the filter housing there is a device that looks exactly like a brake bleed valve, does anyone know if this is to purge air from the system? If it is do you just open it with a tube connected and turn the ignition on (engine not running)?

Any advice appreciated.

Hi if the fuel filter is on the front you have a hand prime pump above the filter. You open the bleed screw you have found next to the filter and pump the hand prime pump.

Many thanks Merlin, I found it!

For everyones info (if I got it right!) its the black domed disk with a coil spring under it, angled at about 45 deg, opposite side to the bleed screw.

Thanks again
