Default 2001/2 voyager alarm/immobiliser urgent help needed !!!!!!!!!

Hi There

I am sorry to simply dive in but we are pulling our hair out here. We have a customers Y reg voyager in that came in as an immob fault and not running. We have checked everything on the forums, plugs etc and seemingly nothing un towards.

We then had an auto locksmith come in who couldnt do anything. The another company came in that were very helpful and recoded the keys and system but still not working.

Alarm sounds all the time, fixed red light on dash and no turning on the key. Remote unlocks doors but doesnt turn off alarm.

Please help as this is now costing us a fortune and also the customer is chomping at the bit.

The only error code is related to the PCM .....stupid i know people will say its the PCM if there is a code but........I need to make 1 million percent sure before we commit the customer

Thanks a lot
Warren

Merlin is the expert in these matters but it does sound like the SKIM has lost its memory of the transpoder code in the key. Have you tried the customers other key. Alternatively have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while. Make sure all doors are unlocked before you do that. One other thing you might try is opening the bonnet and then with the key move the boot lock to the unlock (turn clockwise on these cars) position. This is supposed to reset the BCM.

To check for a code turn the ignition key from acc (the first position where the odometer lights up) to on 3 times ending on the on position. The odometer should then give you the ECU codes.

PCM hardly ever fail but does sound like a it's PCM related. More likely a wiring fault, I would be check powers and ground at the PCM. They do suffer from corroded wires under the fuse box and battery tray, also wires can rub on the bracket covering the PCM. What is error code and full description?

Tried the key things and nothing. We programmed both sets of keys yesterday.

Funny enough our scanners dont pick up any error codes at all but the auto locksmith was getting the code (which was single figures if i remember like 6 or something) saying PCM fault. And another saying serial comms failure. But as said our Mac Scnaner doesnt find anything and will access the ECU.

The other thing is the alarm is sounding so we have to pull fuse IOD which obviously disengages the central locking and accessories. We have been putting that back in when we have been doign all the diags etc.

Some people are suggesting it may be the alarm unit but i thought that was all part of the PCM or am i wrong ?

I really really need to get to some kind of answer today as customer is spitting bullets lol.

thanks everyone

If the car is a diesel your scanner won't pick up anything. Diesels were only OBDII compliant from 2004 on. However the key process I gave you will work as I have used this many times as have numerous other people on this forum.

Sorry don't know. Although I am/was a mechanic, on this forum I am just an owner. I have never bought a PCM.Merlin works for Chrysler so would be able to answer. However what I have found is that aprt from their labour charges parts wise Chrysler is not too bad at all. Having come from the likes of Honda and Nissan like you have just found they can often be surprisingly cheap.
