2001 Headlight Problem
Well my headlight problem just got worse. Now on the right light the low beam light doesn't work and on right side high beam doesn't work. Already changed the right headlight buld and that didn't fix it. I have been having problems with the parking lights coming on all by them selfs and nobady near the vehicle and pretty sure it is a faulty headlight switch. The reason I say that is if you push on the switch they turn off and stay off. Just wonder if this is the switch problem getting worse. Anyone have any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

RE: 2001 Headlight Problem
unfortuantly i had a 96 and the headlight switch did something like that i cannot garranty it but the headlights on and off is probably that as far as the bulbs blowing well when you pu them in did you touch the glass part of the bulb if you did it severly shortens the life of the bulbs.

No I did not touch the bulb! Here is what I have done so far got them to come on for a couple of days by playing with the parking light relay. When I pulled it out the lights came on then placed it back in the lights went off then pulled it again they came on and stayed on when replaced the relay this time. But after a couple of days they are not working again. After reviewing TSB reports it might be the software issue that was mentioned earlier but have a feeling it is the Body Control Module going bad on me. Either way I am taking it in to the dealership Friday to get diagnoised so I am not wasting money omn unnecessary parts (Hopefully!). Will keep you posted on my progress so this can be a useful thread later for someone else that experiances the ame problem.

RE: 2001 Headlight Problem
Well finally got through all the issues with the dealer and turned out it was both the headlight switch and turn signal switch was bad. The headlight switch was the source of the flashing light problem I had. Then the one light on and the other off depending on High Beam or Low Beam was the turn signal switch.
Wasn't very happy with the service at the dealer either. Took 6 visits and allot of complaining to get it fixed. Everytime I took it in and want three things to be looked at and they would only wind up looking for the hweadlight flashing problem on the work order. Even when I talked to the mechanic directly they still didn't look at anything else.
Wound up getting a new BCM which fixed the back up lights for free and turns out by what I understand is warrantied even if the vehicle is not under it anymore.
Just hope this wil be the last of the electrical issues for a long time but have a feeling it won't be. Anyway just wanted to follow up so if someone else has the same issues they know where to start.

RE: 2001 Headlight Problem
Well this headlight problem has just showed up again and have to belive someone has seen it before. The irony is that I was at a used car dealership today and they where working on a 01 T&C and it had the exact same problem. As of right now they haven't beeen able to figure it out either after several days of troubleshooting. If anyone has any ideas I wouls really appreciate it.
Thanks In Advance,

Yes! After 6 months now I think we can safely say it is fixed since it has not happend again. Turns out it was a software issue and since Chrysler downloaded new software it has not showed up again. This really aggrevates me because the very first visit I handed the tech a TSB report stating it was a software issue. Instead we wound up changing headlight switch 1 visit, turn signal switch 2nd visit, BCM on 3rd visit and still didn't fix it. Thank fully I made such a stink after the first visit I didn't have to pay for anything on the 2nd & 3rd visit even with the vehicle being out of warranty.
Also came across a 01 Caravan that exhibited the same issue but they never fixed it correctly so I don;t know if the software would've fixed it.

This thread is growing hair it's so old. We've learned since that a myriad of headlight problems on 4th generation vans are caused by poorly designed contacts on the Front Control Module (FCM). Specifically spade contacts 3,4,5,6. They are the output contacts for left and right low and high beams. Just remove the FCM, slightly twist the contacts to make better contact with their counterpart contacts on the IPM and reinstall the FCM. Make sure you disconnect the negative battery cable first.
