Default 2002 T&C Power Steering Issue

Hi All,
I'm hoping to find some info & advice

My wife's 2002 T&C has started making a "moaning & groaning"sound in the Power Steering. I took it to a local shop & they said Chrysler recommended that the return hose be changed out with a longer one. They did the work (which DIDN'T solve the problem) and the sound is even louder than before.
When the van is driven after sitting fora couple of hours, the sound is barely noticeable, but within 5 minutes the sound is back in full force.

A friend told me his father-in-law drained the PS reservoir and refilled it with something (I'm thinking it was somekind of conditioner) & that solved the problem.

Anybody have any info or ideas on this?

Try replacing the plastic power steering reservoir. There is a non-replaceable filter/screen inside that gets plugged, which starves the pump for fluid.

It only costs about $30 from the dealer....

BTW the power steering fluid of choice is MOPAR ATF+4

To my knowledge there's no recall for this. Most of the T&C's do this. I've done the TSB which involves replacing a hose and putting a loop in it and adding a power steering cooler. I dont think it really did anything but the customer hasn't been back. haven't really heard of a fix for this.
