2005 Chrysler T&C CPS problem
Hello,
My family has a 2005 T&C with the 3.3L v6. It has had the CEL on for a couple days. They took it to autozone and had the codes read. Autozone said it was the Crank sensor code and I replaced it last night. The CEL went out right away and stayed off until this afternoon when it came back on. They took it to autozone again and it is the same code pointing to the CPS again. If anyone has any light to shed on this problem I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

RE: 2005 Chrysler T&C CPS problem
Ok, It has both a mopar crank and cam position sensor now. It ran ok for a day and then, it started cutting out at about 3k rpm. No CEL though. I took it to the dealer and they want 2k to replace the whole wiring harness. I physically traced out the CPS wiring and could find nothing obviously wrong. Any more Ideas?

Well now the problem is very intermitant, it will run fine for half a day, then acts like it is dying and a 0339 CEL comes up and the the CEL starts flashing and the van dies. Let it cool off for 20-30 min and it runs fine again.

RE: 2005 Chrysler T&C CPS problem
Hi, I don’t have any experience with CPS issues on Chryslers; however, I have had CPS trouble codes set on GM products. Both times, the CPS wasn’t the problem (which makes sense if you look at the CPS and see how simple the sensor is). In both cases the problem ultimately was bad connectors on the PCM (computer).
Replacing the entire wiring harness on a 4 year old van seems unreasonable to me. I know it is a royal pain to trace down bad connectors though. If you can locate the PCM (maybe Chrysler calls their engine computer something different – experts please help here), you might try reseating the connectors there.
Sorry I can’t offer much more help.
