2005 T&C 3.8V6 doesn't brake on engine
Hi there, i have a 3.8L 2005 Town and Country and it has a small problem, when driving on the roads and decelerate if you get to 1500rpm it doesnt brake on the engine anymore.
It almost looks al a sort of cruise-control itselves.. if you put it in Neutral the RPMS stay at approx 1500rpm..
I have a Snapon Modis with the personality keys, but no K25 (US-keys) so i can't read any OBD-stuff. Is there a OBD-tool(Bluetooth?) that you guys prefer for reading out the Chrysler?
Maybe i can provide more information than, there are no CEL/MIL lights on at the moment.

do you mean the engine does not slow down as you take you foot off the gas? if your in converter lock up which is 55 or above then yeah it will cruise for awhile because it is geared 1 to 1 at that point. Nothing wrong with it dont tail gate behind someone.

it slows down, every RPM above 1500, (i think its in lockup but thats not it) if i change to Neutral the rpm will go to 1500, that isnt normal, in the end,(normally) the cars has to slow down and change gears to 1st and then almost drive a few mph

You should only change to neutral when stationary.

i know that but the car accelerates on its own to 1500rpm.. (it was a way for the customer to let me see what happened) I drove probably to fast with it(testdrive) and to mucht rpms.. so i didnt see/feel that at 1500rpm
The owner drives realy like a very old guy..and is extremely stubborn.. ( he even locks the car with the switch on the doorpanel when he leaves the car..)

my 01 does this my 04 does this every Chrysler van i have driven 96 through 07 with a 41 te trans has done this which is 100s of them. The engine is not designed to slow the car down. Is this your customers first Chrysler van with a 41te in it? if so then he cant base off other cars what this one is doing. Now if the rpm of the engine is higher then what the computer wants then you have a vac leak and a check engine lite will be on for idle to high code. Is any of that an issue? if the rpm is 750 to 800 with ac on its normal.

It doesnt have any CEL light on, i can't tell if its a normal behavior of an 41te trans.. the cars i drive when iam in Florida are always new and iam not a slow driver.. pedal to the metal..
For what i saw, the higher idle is only when the car rolls, when you start the car and its in Park it does <1000rpm

Hello,
You have a powerful diagnostic tool for android here. https://cdrbethree-us.forumotion.com/
It is compatible with all Chrysler T&C from 2001 to 2007 (4th generation)
Do not hesitate to ask your questions about the software and your concerns, they are there to help you.
With CDRBeThree you will have access to everything that the BVA and the torque converter do.

To help you, here is a video in French on how the transmission works. Used YT subtitle
