2005 Town and country overheating
Hello all, I am having overheating issues with my parents van, it is a 2005 Chrysler town and country 3.3L. The van started over heating a couple months ago and has not been driven much since. The radiator had a small hole in it so I replaced it. The van will blow water out of the radiator without heating up. I can see the water circulating in the radiator with the cap off. I read that these vans had problems with heads cracking. I pressurixed the radiator to 15lbs and the next morning there was no pressure in the cooling system. I have never deals with a problem like this so I figured you all would be my best bet for help. Thanks in advance.

coolant in oil ? or oily coolant ? probably a head gasket if you seeing blowby in radiator... or , of course a head crack... did it overheat badly at one time or another ? usually the reason... good tech should be able to diagnose fairly quickly.. best of luck

A pressurized cooling system is only there forr very hot climates, so that the coolant may get to OVER 100*C without boiling. If you're getting a lot of pressure at modest temperatures, it's likely that combustion gasses are getting into the coolant water, usually due to a defective head gasket, or a warped cylinder head. If you've a good snifter, lifting the filler cap and having a good sniff usually confirms. Keep your face away from the filler cap when loosening. That's all hopeful -- it could be a cracked head -- not good for the wallet.
