ABS warning light on plus Traction control off?
Hi All,
Just got back from 1,500 mile trip to France. After all the trouble I've had with this car I'm surprised it made it. Anyway while we were away we drove up and down many mountain roads so the brakes took a pounding. Whilst driving I noticed the pedal felt crunchy, similar to when the ABS kicks in, but during normal driving. This then stopped and then the ABS warning light came on and Traction Control showed "off" in display. I drove all the way home like this without any problem with the brakes. Sounds like a dodgy sensor to me? Any ideas what the problem is?
Thanks

Data from the ABS wheel speed sensors is also used for the traction control.
A quick test of the sensors is to measure the electrical resistance of the sensors, if one is considerably different to the others then it's a fair bet that that is the one has failed.
Though measuring the resistance will not detects all faults, but it's a start

Is it a fairly easy job to replace the ABS sensors?
Do you know?
Thanks

yes, they come out fairly easily, about 20 mins per corner. loosen the wheel nuts, jack the car up and remove the wheel. Follow the ABS sensor wire back to it's plug and then unplug it, remove the sensor from the wheel hub. If I remember correctly it's just a 10mm bolt holding them in.
