Default Accurate Road Tax Cost for a 2005 Ltd XS 2.8

Hi,

Apologies for sounding internet inept...(say that after a few drams..)...but I can't seem to find a site that gives me a definitive current cost for 6mths and 12mths road tax for my potential car.

For all us annal yanks a "dram" is a small amount of spirits usually whiskey and generally considered 1/8 ounce. Sad to say I actually looked it up. The things you learn on a forum. Amazing.

The VOSA.Gov site should confirm your vehicle costs £240p.a. for road tax, unless it's gone up since I taxed mine.

Since March 2001, road tax is based on grams of carbon emitted per Km. If your car emits less than 100g/Km., the charge is currently zero, again unless it's been changed recently. My diesel Renault Megane for instance cost £35p.a. There is an upward sliding scale, some vehicles cost over £400p.a.

It makes no difference if your engine is diesel or petrol, exept that I believe if your car is LPG powered, provided it's registered as such you are exempt from the London congestion charge. Again, this may have been changed.
