Default Alarm/Immobilisor

As far as i'm aware I had an immobilisor, but i'm not so sure about an alarm, ive never actualy heard it, and when trying to renable the chirp when you lock/unlock the car nothing happends as per the small leaflet that came with my pack. could this indicate a problem or just that i dont really have an alarm on it. ?
