Question Better rear brakes?

Hello All
I do quite a bit of towing with my 1997 Grand Voyager 3.3. i've noticed that the front brakes get very hot whilst the rears stay stone cold. I've stripped & re built the brakes with new wheel cylinders, shoes, springs etc & the brakes are adjusted fine.
The trailer brakes are also fully serviceable.
Is there anyway to play with the brake proportioning valve? Its got ABS & the sealed type proportioning valves, otherwise I'd just adjust the lengh of the load sensing rod.
If i could get a scrap one I'd strip it to see how it works!
Any advice would be welcome.
Cheers Gareth
