Pity that. 65k on a 3 litre diesel lump is nothing on a 9 year old, it must have been worth a look. My general rule is always low mileage, never had a tow-bar, and ex disabled if possible. Last year the prices for limited 2.8's were depressed, this last 6 months the price of dealer 06's on 70k is a salty £5.5k -I wouldn't even consider that year and miles unless it was at least a grand less. The half decent 08's new model with 6-speed automatic are also still top price.

Best of luck with your search.

Well folks I've finally done it! Got myself another GV.

It's a 2004 reg 2.8CRD Limited, so not the stow and go I'd ideally have wanted, and it's hit 94,000 on the mileage, so higher than I'd wanted, but price-wise it was decent (3k) and in good condition.

I'm picking it up at some point next week, and my thinking is, they don't know if the timing belt has been done, so plan is to get timing belt done.

And... what else, I've got a little cash spare after buying and I'd like to get a few things done first to make sure it keeps on running happily, so open to suggestions on what's best to get checked and carried out.

Happy to be yet another owner though, I'm back in the club :-)

Hi Andyb2000 glad your back...why did you go anyway.
Anyway, Cambelt yes of course, with wheels. Engine Oil & Filter. Gearbox Oil. Coolant thermostat if its not reaching half on gauge, Renault in hose of course. Fuel filter, check it doesn't leak. Front Anti-roll bar rubbers as they don't last long. Get handbrake working. And And if your real rich, new set of Injectors.

Good glad your 'back in the club' Andy.

- clear and re-read codes to see what's hidden
- put a years test on it first
- then decide in 'summer terms' where your first priorities are
- like goggsy I'd start with the cheaper to do always neglected 'wet stuff'

There's a good post with lotsa megga quality pics here thanks to travelmad & rodger

If your GV is not showing signs of overheating, it's a very good idea to change the HOAT antifreeze immediate on acquisition of vehicle. If it's 'worn out', the aluminium based radiator will corrode up restricting the fluid flow, and the thermostat will jam open as it's arranged to do under overheating conditions. This will cost you an awful lot of money to put right.
