cartridge oil filters for 2013 T&C -- different bypass solutions - what OEM has?
Hi Guys,
Not so long ago I have replaced my 2001 T&C with 2013 one. First oil change was done at a (non-Chrysler) dealership. Today I was doing oil change using PureOne purolator oil filter and discovered that the "old" filter had a little plastic "nipple" at the top side (where there are teeth to attach to the oil filter cap).
where on the left it is the old filter with that plastic nipple I took out and placed on top... inspecting the construction I saw that the purolator one has larger top hole and thicker surface so it lines up nicely with the that bypass spring mechanism of the oil filter "receptacle" -- so seems to be logical. But I still wondered -- why the "old" filter (Made in poland, probably that Wix?) had this different design? what is the OEM design? which one is preferable?
Thanks in advance for ideas and feedback
