Hi,
I’m getting a check engine light. The scan code says “Torque converter clutch circuit open”. What does that mean?
The car drives normal. I usually drive in eco mode but not always. The car has 100,170 miles.
Any ideas? Any knowledge on this?
Thank You,
Chris

Hi,
You must have poor contact on the solenoid circuit of the torque converter.
Do you know if your converter locks?
Your minivan is which year?
If from 2001 to 2007, I use a software that lets you know if the torque converter locks.

Hi,
On V6s it is not easy to detect the lock of the torque converter.
I do not know the 5th generation with the box A606 42LE.
You have to go to a car dealer to check with the Witech how well the torque converter is working.
I have no other solution sorry.

Ok, Thank You!
unfortunately the dealer near me, (Healy Dodge Chrysler) has a crappy reputation. I thought it was just talk at first , but every time I brought my car there, something else breaks/ needs attention soon after.
I’ll try another dealer or an independent with a good rep.
I do a lot of my own work, but somethings are beyond my skill level.
Now if I can just figure out where the rattle underneath is coming from, I’ve been under and everything seems buttoned down real well until I hit a bump.
Thanks again.

Sorry to hear of the concern you are currently experiencing with your van. If it would be of interest, I would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf to provide you with an additional layer of assistance as you work with your local FCA dealer for this concern. If you’d prefer to work with a different FCA dealer, you can head to https://www.chrysler.com/find-dealer.html and enter your ZIP code to find a dealer near you. If you see any dealerships that have received a Customer First award this means that this dealer has achieved the highest level of customer experience recognition in five core areas: people, facility, processes, customer metrics and training certification.
