Charging Problem?

No....
Unfortunately ..that neat little trick hasnt been successfully conclusive since 1962, and also runs the risk of popping a diode in the regulator assembly of your PCM....
A 10 $ "Walmart special" multimeter will do the job, without damaging anything...
2 things are possible with the pull the cable trick.....1) the engine stalls...because you "Ungrounded " the PCM.....or 2...It keeps running, and builds up a dangerous amount of current, with no place to discharge it.....Either way...you have not "Proven" anything, and possibly irreparably hurt it in the process.
