Default Codes P0305 and P0205 - Replaced Fuel injector 5

Our 09 Chrysler T&C Limited with 48,000 miles was throwing error codes P0305 and P0205 and we took it in for service. The mechanic replaced Fuel Injector 5 and the van ran fine for a couple days. While driving on the highway, the engine starting revving real high and all of a sudden, when I hit the gas pedal nothing would happen. I pulled over shut the van off and then it would not start back up.

Now it is showing error codes P0016 AND P2110 and the mechanic said I either need a new engine or at least the engine needs to come out and tear the engine apart to see what is causing the issue.

Has anyone heard or had this issue? The mechanic is basically ignoring the new codes stating that since my engine is bad, it will generate random codes and these probably aren't accurate.

Hi Steel Mill not quit into Petrol engines, cylinder 5 says its not a diesel to me. But looking at your code P2110 this shows your engine has been shut down by the throttle actuator. Possible runaway situation. P0305 Misfire on Cylinder 5 so injector was replaced of course. But was it injector and not the coil pack.

Hi Goggs, thanks for your reply. Fuel Injector #5 was replaced first by the mechanic for the P0305 and P0205 codes. After that, the van ran for a few days then while driving, the check engine light came on and when I hit the gas pedal nothing would happen the the van stalled. Now it is showing error codes P0016 AND P2110 and the mechanic says that I need a new engine.

That does not seem right to me..

P0016 Crankshaft Camshaft Position Correlation DTC

P2110 Throttle Actuator Ctrl Sys-Forced Limited RPM

Not impossible that the engine is ruined but much more information is needed.

Chrysler Tech, that is where I was heading. I took my van to another local garage and he is the one stating I need a new engine. It turns out that the 2nd garage I took my van to is friends with the 1st mechanic who replaced my fuel injector and was even there when he replaced it. I know it is all confusing.

I just towed my van to a chrysler dealership and will have them run diagnostics.

Thanks for the responses and I will keep everyone posted

Thanks ChryslerCares Erica. Preliminary diagnoses is that the engine is slipping and possible timing belt issue. He said he will know more tomorrow. He said the cause could be that fuel/gas got in the engine and caused vapor lock (I think I got it right).

That would make sense because the first mechanic said when he replaced the fuel injector gas went all over the place and I will be smelling gas for a few days.

If this is the case, can I or has anyone went after a mechanic to reimburse you for the work that he did? Also, I might try to have him pay for the work that Chrysler is currently doing since he is the one who may have caused this.

I have a 4.0 USA engine. I thought it was a chain as well, but he mentioned belt. He is doing a partial engine tear down and I will know more on Monday, May 18th.
