Default Cutting out on idle

Hi guys

I have an issue with my 02 GRD Grand voyager. From cold it will cut out whilst idling, it does improve when the engine warns up but it still does it on the odd occasion, if it doesn't cut out completely it seems to bounce of the bottom of the revs almost cutting out. The guy I bought it from had tried numerous things including a fuel filter but he is now pointing towards the crank sensor? Does this sound like a possibility? If so is it an expensive fix?

Cheers

No and no. Did he consider the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. It controls idle via the PCM.

Cutting out Just at idle. This is going back to petrol injection engines where they used to have erratic idle, cut out when sitting or when coming to a stop when driving. Like for Vauxhalls the cure was to spray clean the idle control valve but not on these.
I agree with Raptor.

Thanks raptor, is the IAC an expensive fix?

Shouldn't be expensive if its second hand, try Flee-bay or breaker.

Ok guys hopefully this will fix it, it seems a cheaper option than the crank sensor so hopefully this is it!
