Default DVD video problem

We have a 2001 Town & Country Limited. The DVD video has stopped working. When you put a DVD disk into the factory in dash player, you can hear the audio, but there is not video. The overhead screen turns on, but we just get the Blue screen. If you plug a video source into the AUX jack (like a kids game that worked in there before), we still just get the blue screen. Any thoughts?

There's no way to diagnose this over the net. To state the obvious, you either have a problem with the wiring between the video player in the dash and the overhead unit, you have a faulty screen or a faulty DVD player. If it were me, I'd start by making sure all the plugs are tight (into the back of the DVD player, where the dash meets the A-pillar and then at the screen. Next, I'd disconnect the harness at the screen and DVD player and test for continuity at each wire-- especially the video wires. I'd also check for a short to ground. That would rule out the wiring harness, at which point you may want to just buy one of those used OEM DVD player/screen sets that sell on eBay for about $150.

The dealer scan tool (DRBIII) can check for codes in the entertainment system which may or may not be there.
