Car now at Arnold Clark, Chrysler dealer. They have already called me to say they need to check all wiring, 3.5hours. Bill now standing at £400. They say this is the first GV they have had in with this problem. Starting to really regret buying this car !!!

In the end we had a recon gearbox fitted and new solenoid switch pack. Arnold Clark had to take it to a gearbox specialist as they couldn't fix it. Car runs fine now. Took it to France a month ago covering 1,800 miles and it drove great.

- ouch !
- even the pack on its own never mind the whole box is an arm and a leg
- doing a DIY refurbish of the [41TE/42LE] pack doesn't seem too daunting to me, good 'walk through' article here
- thanks for letting the group know .. .. best of luck with your ride Mark Houghton
