Default Engine management light?

Hi guys/girls
I have a 55 Grand voyager 2.8TD
Up until two days ago the ABS light was on and had bean on for a while. It went off yesterday. now today the engine light is on and it has no guts in it.
you put your foot down and it takes forever to accelerate. Ive got one of the orange falt code readers of ebay. but it says no code.
any help?
Thanks Bee.

As you're guessing the fact the check engine light is on says there is a code stored in the computer unless it has reset and the light is off. All code readers aren't created equal. Have a shop connect there's to read the code or cycle the key from off to on (not start) three times leaving the key at "on" on the last cycle. Your codes should then be displayed on the odometer. What year was your van built? (yes, I'm across the pond).

Theres a way to read stored fault codes without a reader, it's on here somewhere but I dont know where.

Guess you missed in the post #2: "or cycle the key from off to on (not start) three times leaving the key at "on" on the last cycle. Your codes should then be displayed on the odometer."

BTW - that applies to 4th gen (01-07) and up vans. Prior to that you count the flashes of the SES light.

According to internet source the code P1685 is:

P1685 - SmartKey immobilizer module reports bad key used (this is common if you tried to put the wrong key in!)

If you go to this address (www.allpar.com/fix/computer-codes), it provides a list of Chrysler fault codes. I don't know how good the info is, but its a great start.

Happy Motoring

Don't spose you have a spare key? Maybe the battery is weak.

- take the NEG terminal off for half an hour
- put it back on again and reset your seat position & radio channels preferences
- if its cured ok - - if its not see Raptor 07 post on weak FOB [or car] battery
- if the problem persists you may have to reacquaint your FOBS & SCREEM module
- let me know

The ABS light is a different issue, and will possibly return, cheap code readers will not read Chrysler ABS codes.
