Spray Max
I am about to try this on my headlights: Spray Max - Scheinwerfer-Reparatur-Set (2x250ml).

Thats like clear paint on the headlights, isn't it?
I read about that.. you really have to clean very well before use, preferably wetsand grind it with like 3000 before spraying it.
Let us know how it turns out

You could try cleaning with cotton on a stick after taking the headlight out, then bulb out and through the bulb opening
Or remove lens.. that seems to be possible using an oven ..

Done...!!
OK; so I did the restoration on Sunday.
Products:
1. 3M Headlight Restoration Kit - to sand and polish. Bought from ebay.co.uk.
2. Spray Max - Scheinwerfer-Reparatur-Set (2x250ml) - contains 1k and 2k sprays to seal against UV degradation (or so it promises). The 1k spray had a tendency to drop droplets so you have to keep a cloth handy to wipe nozzle after each spray run. Bought from ebay.de.
Results:
See attached photos. Sequence is as follows (hover over the thumbnails to see photo file name):
1. Before 01 and 02: headlights before any work
2. After 3M: headlights after sanding and polishing with 3M kit. The lights have a very hard silica coating and I almost did not have enough P800 paper in the 3M kit. You can stop after this step, but the 3M kit has no UV protection sprays, so I continued with the next step.
3. After 3m and SprayMax: the final result. SprayMax applied to protect against UV.
Time taken: an afternoon with an electric drill. Be sure to use mouth filter for breathing.
You can just use the 3M kit, but then lenses will have no protection (I think). with the last 3M step, it's worth polishing twice with the rubbing compound.
Night time efficiency: untried as yet, but lenses look incredibly clear and glossy. Wow..!

Thank you for the positive comments. After a few days, I definitely recommend this maintenance step. The increase in light output is just phenomenal. It's not me getting old after all..! I just hope that the anti-UV coating does it's job.
