Default grand voyager remote problems

I have a UK 2005 2007 diesel 2.8 grand voyager. It has the separate key and remote. It started working intermittently, and I disconnected the battery as suggested and it worked. I have been doing this for a few months now, but it has stopped working.

I have replaced the battery but to no avail, (i read somewhere that only certain batteries work, is this correct?).

I have a new key and remote fob but I believe this cannot be programmed without a working remote. Is there anything else I can try to get the original remote fob working please?

As I am disabled this is making life very difficult for me. Thank you.

Try the below .. .. if you are within reasonable distance of me, as a cripplo myself .. .. I'll come and do it for you FOC.

- disconnect the negative terminal from the car battery for 10 minutes then reconnect it
- when you reconnect it the car will make lots of clicks while it checks all of its components
- when its finished its checks, put your key in the IGN and turn the IGN on, do NOT start the car
- then lock & unlock the doors / boot / several times from the KEYFOB then start the car

While its warming up (1) re-set your preferred seat positions with the door switch, your (2) VES settings, and (3) radio stations etc.

- then switch off, get out, and lock the car with the FOB, the locks alarm & immobiliser should work ok
- do they ?
- then unlock the car with the FOB and get in and start the car, it should work now
- does it ?
