Default Immobiliser?

We don't use this car much so the battery went flat, I jumped started it with the wives car. The battery again goes flat so I buy a battery charger and give it a proper equalising charge. After afew weeksI tried to start the car but nothing, so I try to re-charge the battery, the charger says it's fully charged. I put it back on the car and the alarm sounds, I try connecting the battery again and the alarm sounds so I put the key in the ignition and it stops. I connect the battery and the car won't start. I give up for tonight and go indoors. The alarm starts sounding, no flashing lights jsut an alarm going off. I disconnect the battery (it's cold and very dark by now) and go inside to get warm.

Whats the problem with the car? Is it the immobiliser or something else.

Thanks in anticipation

John

Hi, Yes I have a key fob for the alarm - that didn't switch it off. I can only presume that the alarm was working before the battery went flat, I see no reason not to have one. The car is a 2003 Voyager.
Thanks for replying

Tried all these ideas and still nothing. Looks like a tow to the Main Dealer for the diagnostics machine. (Gulp)

Thanks for your help!

It turns out to be a flat battery, it only had 5 volts in it when a voltmeterwas used to check it. It appears that the alarm was taking all the available power so that nothing else could work. Once an additional battery was added (jumped) the alarm would turn off and the car was able to start.

Thanks for all suggestions.
