Default PCM Embossed Number

Just received a reman PCM. There are three rows of number embossed on the PCM casing of both the old and reman PCM. The rows of numbers are stacked on top of each other. The top two rows of numbers are exactly the same. The third row, on the old PCM which I removed from my van, is the numbers 12. The reman PCM which I just received in the mail for the third row is the numbers 10.

I put the reman PCM in and the engine still would not start. I called the company that I bought the PCM from and they said the numbers 12 vs 10 doesn't matter.

Does anyone know if the numbers being different have any significance? I have read a few threads before where a security system comes into play. My van does not have a security system.

Thanks for any feedback.

The numbers are likely for there use when programming. As long you gave them the right info then should be good to go.

FYI, all I gave them was the VIN number and verified that they had the correct number. When I received the PCM and realized the last two numbers weren't the same, I questioned them and they said it didn't matter.

Since the van would not start, I had a mobile mechanic whom I know look at the van. He got no "fire" from the new PCM but did get "fire" from the old PCM. His opinion is that they did not program/flash the PCM correctly.

I called the reman company this morning and they said they'd process a refund. I mailed the PCM back to them 15 min. ago. I doubt they refund my entire - if any - money. We shall see.

Thanks for the feedback.
