power steering pulley busted
so i drive a 2000 town and country limited and last week the power steering pulley decided to break on me, the threads on the inner ring of the pulley are stripped. i was wonder what would be the cheapest/fastest way to remedy the problem.
i was thinking about bypassing the pulley entirely, seeing as i only need it to run for another 2 and a half weeks before i go to basic. has anyone done this or is it an entirely bad idea or is there another quick fix?

The power steering pulley in my 02 T&C Limited 3.8L failed. It is plastic with metal insert. Cost $300 w/ towing and shop had to drive 50 mi to the nearest dealer to get one. That was with me providing a replacement pump (warranty). Auto stores list the pulley, but always "not available".
Failure probably due to me having beat the old pulley off when I changed the pump 4 mos earlier. I even heated it w/ a torch (thought it was alum) until the surface blistered. It had surface cracks but I had to re-use since "not avail". I learned my lesson and bought a new pulley on ebay ($15) and keep in the back.
