rattle in back tire

rattle in back tire
I have a 2005 town and country. Every time I ride over a bump, there is a rattle from the rear left tire.
I can also hit the tire with a 5 lb hammer and have it make noise as well. We are pretty sure it is not coming from the shocks.
Any help would be appreciated for helping me figure out where the noise could be coming from.
Thanks
Brad

RE: rattle in back tire
Because of where you hear the rattle. It is located somewhere within the tire area. I had my head behind the tire near the shock and it appeared to be from the tire and not the shock. Would this be a typical noise from the shock?

RE: rattle in back tire
if you hit the tyre with a hammer and you hear the noise, it's not the shock absorber. it can't be.
I presume you have disc brakes on the rear side, so the only place where a rattle can come from, is brake pads, or something around them. you have to take it to the service, for a professional to tako a look. it's not something you can play with (if I'm right).
rattle comming from a wheel is a typical noise for a shock absorber, but only if the vehicle is moving.
