Default Remove rear rotors 2005 Town & Country

Can anyone tell me how to remove the rear rotors on a 2005 Town & Country? It seems the emergency back pads are preventing the rotors from being released. I have been unable to locate the emergency brake back out adjustment on the cable. Am I on the right tracK?

I made another attempt this weekend at replacing the rear rotors and discovered that upon closer inspection that there is a emergency brake adjustment that must be run in to allow the emergency brake pads proper clearance. You can hammer till the cows come home but unless to you adjust the emergency back pads in, the rotor will not release. The adjustment opening is covered by a square black rubber cap at the bottom inside of the rear wheel. Once removed you will need an angled brake adjusting tool to reach inside and turn the adjustment.

I just got the rotors off of my wifes 2001 Town and Country with 230,000 miles on it and this is how it went.
I got the rear pasenger one off by spraying rust penatrate (PB Blaster), waiting, then spaying more then wedging a prybar behind the rotor and beating the bageebas out of it with a 3lb sledge hammer then rotating it and repeting the process over and over till finally it became loose and came off. I really began to think it was not going to break loose.
Exactly the same thing on the rear drivers side after it finally broke loose, I could not get it off because the emergency brake was adjusted out to far. so I popped out the the adjustment cover that Pancake was talkin about on the bottom of the inside of the wheel, got a small inspection mirror to see what it looked like inside the holeand what I was going to have to do inside that oblong hole. I used a real short screw driver and stuck it the blade aimed downward in the hole to catch a tooth of the adjusting sprocket, then I pulled down so the blade would rotate the tooth upward(drivers side). I had to do this at least ten times before it would release the rotor.
Word of advice. You might want to put your lug nuts back on your studs when you are beating the Holy $&**^%*^* out of it so you don't mess up the threads on the studs like I did on a couple. You can do this!

I just came upon this thread since I'm having the same issue. I can see the spring when I take off the rubber seal but can't find the adjuster. Is it above the spring? Which side are the gears on? Assuming I do find it, do I pull down to loosen and push up to tighten?

Smile Great advice

I took on the rear brakes and rotors on our 2005 T&C. I've never done the rear rotors before and we have about 180K miles on it. This thread was instrumental in helping me get this done. Many thanks to all who inquired and answered. I did have to adjust the parking brakes to get the rotors off. Also had to soak the crap out of them with Kroil....but they eventually came off and I was able to finish the job. Love doing this stuff myself. Thanks again!!

You can back off the slack adjusted between the two brake shoes at the bottom by sticking a screw driver threw the hole in the bottom of the backplate and prizing adjuster upwards. That is unless adjuster is seized which it probably is.
If you are good with a small angle grinder, grind away the unworn rim on inside edge of the drum in arc/circular motions. Finish off with smooth file. It will come off easier next time.
