Revs very slow to drop
Hi all,
i am new to this forum and i am wondering if any can point me in the right direction with this problem i have.
I have recently bought a voyager 1998 2.0 ltr petrol.
I am real pleased wit it apart from a ****ley problem that the revs take for ever to drop, they do eventually but nowhere near fast enough, this makes the car act like its on kangaroo juice at low revs (trying to keep going jumping) and it also seems to lack power when acclerating.
i have changed the plugs, leads and tried the on board codes with the on of ignition but no joy, i am wondering if a vaccum leak or can anyone help?

i hear what you are saying about the fuel problem as mine over fuels also, but that could be down to a air leak and the ecu telling mor fuel to go in do you think? Have you tried a obd test on it or anything else? im sure we can work it out as we have the same issue. i will advise on what i have tried but my first call is to replace a few hoses on egr valve ect as they are pennies.
if there was a fault with the air intake sensor that should come up on obd scan? what you think?

Mines been on an OBDII scanner, no faults found, the ECU has been reset a couple of times and it quickly goes back to what it was doing. I spoke to a friend of mine in the States who was a Chrysler Tech, he suggested going on a diagnostic and looking at the fuel trim figures, if they were high, then fuel pump, if they were normal, to do a fuel pressure check.

ahh right thats interesting, the only other thing i have done is put fuel injector cleaner in, and to be fair it seemed a lot better for a day or so and now back to normal if anything worse, its propa head doing! Id put it on a full diagnostics but i personaly wudnt know what the figures ment! so it could be down to fuel pump?

Well, car is fixed, I collect it tomorrow, so hopefully it is all sorted, if it isn't, will pull the battery for half an hour to reset the ECU....
Price, including parts and labour is £640, as the garage wasn't willing to strip the module to replace the electric pump, so the part alone was £380, the pump on it's own is £80.
