Collected the car, revs drop faster and runs better, may need an ECU reset.

The pump can be changed (ebay for the pump itself £80), the hardest bit is getting the pump out (drop the tank) and got to change the tank o-ring.

That's good that they didn't. I won't do it either. Those electric motor replacements go bad all too often. Saves you from double labor.

Possible new suspect is the EGR valve.

Take the pipe from the EGR Valve to the EGR Transducer off, plug the pipe and drive, if fault is gone, EGR valve is sooted up and needs replacing.

Slow to drop revs can often be a sign of an over lean mixture typically caused by an air leak somewhere. Check all your vacuum pipes e.g. going to the break booster, around the MAF etc. Their may be a hairline crack somewhere ir a jubille clamp that is loose or has slipped off. You can also read the colour of the plugs to see if the car is running lean. A very light brown to white will indicate this. Excessive heat in the exhaust system is alos a sure sign of fuel being overlean. In modern cars it can also be a result of a faulty Lambda sensor that thinks the system is too rich and is telling the ECU to lean out the fuel injection pulses.
