Default Rust on top of strut

I noticed where the strut bolts on is rusted pretty bad. Is it gonna break through? Is there a way to fix it? Any idea what a dealer charges to replace struts?

dont worry about it its only rust they wont break its only surface rust anyway. If u had a real rust prob there would be alot more parts that would rust out b4 the top of the struts. DO u live up north where they use salt and stuff or more down south ?

Bernard, Your link didnt work , but I did some searching and there is a TSB on this problem . Chrysler says its cosmetic but from what Ive read from other posters, its more than cosmetic. The TSB number is

If the rust is cosmetic, what is the pupose of putting the doubler on top? Couldnt you just sand it off and prime and paint it and then put some wax on it to keep it from happening again? It looks like the doubler was just drilled up and bolted on. Did you put it on yourself or did you have someone else do it?

Default More strut tower concern..anyone else..

can anyone else chime in on this? Confilcting reports about the tower (hence, strut) "busting through".

I'm not so worriede about the cosmetics. with a '97 there isn't a big concern about my 'baby' being pretty under the hood anymore!

Thanks

Gene
