Terrible noise
I have a 2008 TC that is making a terrible hum when crusing down the road. The faster you go the louder it gets. And is worse if you turn to the right at all. Cud it be the tires? Tires are worn out and due tob replaced. Ive checked PS fluid. Steering seems fine. There is no hum when idle. Only when moving. The noise is very annoying!

OK, after researching wheel bearings it seems this is the problem. Do I understand correctly that if you turn the wheel while driving and the noise goes away then it is the OPPOSITE wheel bearing? So, if I turn left and it goes away (doesn't really go away entirely) it is the right wheel bearing?

still confused
OK, jacked up the front end and spun both tires. Nothing sounds out of the norm. So, I'm having trouble deciding which hub is bad. If I follow a curve to the right the hum increases. Does this mean the driver side hub is bad? If I straighten back up or follow curve to left there is no increase in sound.

If turning right on a curve and it sounds noisier, its the left wheel, as the load is increasing on that wheel due to car wanting to go straight on. Think of the scenario where the right wheels would lift off the road if you were going really fast around a sharp bend to the right. Good for doing roll overs right enough into a ditch.

Makes sense! That's exactly what it is doing! Thanks. Just waiting for the new wheel bearing to arrive.
