I have the 2.8l Liberty (2005), you call it the Cherokee? It's running cold, heater works fine, But the idol is very rough and the engine light is on. The boys here in Santa Fe have their heads up their butts when it comes to the VM diesel. I was thinking it might somehow be related to the thermostat as it's running cold and the fluid level is fine. I just got it in the mail and it looks more like a Rube Goldberg bong than a thermostat. I guess I can wade through the replacement process but it would help if someone had a link to a video or diagram of the process.

Ideas?

Is it definately a 2.8 VM diesel? I think chrysler used the mercedes diesel for a while on the libertys.

Next question...is the engine mounted longitudinally? If so then the thermostat should be fairly easy to access which is the main problem with changing the stat on the front wheel drive transverse VM diesel.
