Default Towing Package on 2008 T & C

I just purchased a 2008 Town and Country "Touring". I plan to do limited pulling of a small camper (GVRW 1895), tongue weight of 111 pounds. It sounds like I'll be o.k. even if the van doesn't have the towing package (standard rated for 2000 pounds, yes?) but how do I tell if I do have the towing package?
Thanks,
Rob

Cool

I have the same question. 2008 T&C 4.0 L. What exactly is the towing package? According to my mechanic (who contacted Chrysler) said I didn't need a transmission cooler because it was already equipped with one. So I am confused what a "Towing Package" includes. Thanks

Default T & C Towing Package

Alaska,
My T & C has a 3.8.
If I understand correctly the standard set-up is rated to tow 2000 GVW.
With the "towing package" of heavy duty engine and transmission coolers, its rated for 3800 and includes the wiring harness though I still don't know if that's installed, or a bag full of parts that was supposed to be in glove box at delivery. I bought mine used last week.
Don't know if this helps.
Rob
p.s. I lived in Douglas, Auke Bay and Juneau from '62 until '77. Went back in'98 or so and it sure had changed!

That is an interesting question. We purchased our 09 limited 4.0L new and it has the towing package. The only thing we received was a bag with the trailer wiring harness. The sticker states:

Customer Preferred Package 28X
Trailer Tow prep Group
Trailer tow wiring harness
Load leveling and height control suspension
Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
Heavy Duty Radiator
Heavy Duty Transmission Oil Cooler

Default T & C Towing Passage

Bikebeng,
Your experience is consistent with what others had told me; namely that the wiring harness itself came "in a bag". It appears that my "bag" had never been used and was lost along the way. I won't complain. The original owner left records of regular maintenance, LOF, etc. and a van in such good condition that (even though a 2008 with 34,000 miles) many have asked if it was new.
Given the VIN number my local Chrysler dealer was able to generate a list of all options for my vehicle much like the original window sticker. It included the cooling packages, etc. exactly as you listed for your '09.

Part of the Towing Package, as I understand it, but I could be wrong. The blind leading the blind?

I was hoping a Chrysler Professional would get into this but seems like a minor issue for them.

Thumbs down T & C Towing Package

Don't hold your breath. I don't understand it myself. I frequent other forums where practically any question is met with numerous and detailed responses. Some from real pro's, others from folks like us trying to make sense of it all.
This isn't one of those sites.
Best bet, as mentioned earlier, may be to find a dealership that will use the VIN number to pull up the spec sheet.
Good luck.

US techs dont have info like that about what the van can tow that is up to the sales men they have that info on what it can tow or what colors they come in or how much space is on the inside.
