Tranny sounds like a bike when shifting
Hope someone can help.
1999 t&c 3.3, the transmission sounds like im back pedeling a 10 speed bike whenever it shifts... Park to reverse/ P to d/ upshifting and down. The noise is coming from the drivers side behind the hub and tire. hopin I can get another year or two out of it without puttin in a new trans. Any ideas??? Thanks

I think it is normal to here such sound when shifting. I had a Vision '95 with the same noise but it was heard only if the windows were down and radio shut off. But then I read somwhere (I think it was a service manual) that such noises during shifting are normal and nothing to worry about.

Absolutely Correct
Never heard of it described as a Backpeddling Bicycle before...But it is definitely somewhat accurate
The rattling/Buzzing You hear is the Solenoid pack cycling the shift solenoids and vent valves.
If you listen carefully, When you come to a stop with the windows rolled down, you will hear that noise Twice, as the car downshifts, and IMMEDIATELY after coming to a Full stop.
Hmmm..."But you dont ever remember hearing it before"???? It is possible the foam matting has fallen off, or Maybe the solenoids are a bit noisy in their old age. Either case is to be expected...(Many of the "Foam Mats Fell Off on the Car Carriers during transit )and age , mileage and wear will cause them to be noisier than they were when they were new.
