Default Voyager immobiliser

I've got a 98 voyager not had it long, Tried to put my Toad alarm on it and found that the factory fit needs to be connected as the immobiliser cuts in and won't start so put it back together. Then the immobiliser unit somehow died so obtained a 2nd hand unit with the fobplugged it in, now the led on the dash is permantly lit any ideas whats going on with it please.

Hi
When you say immobiliser do you mean the bit around the barrel that reads the key or the alarm module under the panel by the screen / wind shield? Are you sure it’s an 98 or was that the date it was registered? As you are in the UK the alarm module under the screen only cuts the starter on an 98 as it has a SKIM module around the key barrel that is the immobiliser. If however it’s an 97 the alarm module is also the immobiliser. You can tell it’s a 97 if it have a flat key so no chip in it, a 98 will have a rounder key. The reason the new one doesn’t work is because it doesn’t have the correct VIN programmed into it hence the alarm light is on so you will need to visit the dealer.

It's the older one with the flat key and the alarm module under the dash a may & schofield which needs the fob to disable the immobiliser part on it. I bypassed that it started for about 3 secs then cuts out. So it needs to reprogrammed to suit my car then. Thanks for that much appreciated.I'll phone Chrysler tommorrow and see how much there going sting me.
