1999 Chrysler 300M Airconditioner Problems
Hi... I own a 1999 Chrysler 300M and have had an ongoing battle with the A/C for the last several months (it is currently August in Texas). During a 4 hour trip the compressor "froze" and the belt on the compressor broke (this occurred several months ago). I went to a local mechanic and they replaced the comressor, damper, and other assocaited A/C components (I am not a mechanic). Since then, I have had an "intermittent" problem that has my mechainc "stumped."
Sometimes it works great and other times it only blows hot air even when the compressor is running and the fan is turning. Oftentimes it will start working again beforeI get it to the mechanic.
The latest action by the mechanic was to drain the oil in the compressor and put back the correct amount of oil(that was just an attempt to troubleshoot the problem).
Can someone point my mechanic and I in the right direction? Thanks... CB

RE: 1999 Chrysler 300M Airconditioner Problems
Here is the latest on my A/C. The mechanic did the dye test and found that the evaporator core was leaking and it leaked all the freon in 24 hours. So, they are going to replace the evaporator coreto the tune of $600 ($400 of that is labor; they have to remove the dash).
So far, I have had the compressor, dryer, POA valve, and now the evaporator core replaced (the only thing left is the condensor).
I am hopeful this will solve the problem; if anyone knows of any oddities in the A/C system of a 99 Chrysler 300M please pass that on.
Thanks...
