Default 2005 PT Cruiser Overheating

My PT Cruiser has 35K miles and it overheated 4 months ago. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the thermostat. It is now overheating AGAIN! Looking at other forums, the suggestion is to have the fan motor on the radiator fan checked but wanted to see if there was any other advice. Very disappointing to see that there are A LOT of PT Cruisers out there with overheating problems. [>:]

I see this post is quite old, but I am having the same issue on a 2005 PT Cruiser Turbo 2.4ltr. Noticed the cap on the coolant reservoir was gone and no coolant. Replaced with new cap, filled with coolant. Stays cool when running but at stops and in line for drive through starts overheating to the red zone on the temp gauge. If I put it in neutral and rev engine a bit it will cool down. Am going to start with replacing the thermostat, and hope it's that and not the water pump. Radiator fan seems to be working and no noise coming out of the engine...

Anyone have any suggestions????

check for the bottom radiator hose sucking together when it's over heated, also check top hose.. mine used to do same. turns out every few weeks the coolant level would get low, turns out the head gasket was seeping into the combustion chamber and burning it. once this happens it's time for the head to be resurfaced and a new head gasket,if no other leaks are found in the cooling sysytem

Thanks for all your feedback. Unfortunately took it to the shop and found it was a water pump failure. She's been repaired and on the road again...
