!953 Chrysler Fluid Torque Drive
My 1953 Chrysler New Yorker with Fluid Torque Drive make a ratcheting sound when shifting from third to fourth gear. It always starts shifting, with ratcheting noice,at about 17 mphboth if I floor the accelator pedalor creep slowlyat almost idle speed. When I release the accelator it goes into fouth gear with a distinct "clunk". Once shifted into fourth gear it runs smoot and silent. It shift,s from fourth to third gear smootly withoutnoice both when slowing down the car and when kickdown.
I have checked all the electric components, like the solenoid, governator, interupter and kickdown switch and they are all functional as described in the shop manual.
Are there anybody who can give me an advice how to repaire this transmission?
