Default Grand Voyager Diesel 2.5 EML

Hi all,

I have a Chrysler 2.5 Diesel Manual, 2001.

Just had 3 injectors replaced, full service but

When I put my foot down and accelerate, the engine management light comes on, reduces power and stays on untill I reduce my speed. If I accelerate lightly, then eml stays off, until I need to overtake and accelerate when it re-appears.

Any ideas what may be causing this? Has anyone else experienced this?

Further work done as follows:
Crankshaft sensor replaced
M-Prop Valave replaced

Car starts fine and chucks out small amout of black smoke when cold, but dissappears after a few seconds. No Diesel knock.

Slight flat spot between idle and say 1400rpm.
Apart from that everything runs beautiful and car has plenty of power.

I am considering having a new EGR valve put on. From Chrysler its costing £100 inc VAT for a new EGR Valve inc Gaskets.

Any further ideas from any technical experts before I go and try this?
Many thanks in advance.
ASM Sheen.

When replacing crank sensor, replace cam position sensor too, this is usual.
It's possible your EGR may be resposible for the flat spot, but cleaning it is first step.
You may have the unusual diesel that has the feedback sensor on #1 injector. Even Chrysler indicate this sensor goes wrong.

Thank you for this info. I will check with my mechanic. Tbh a new egr valve is only £108 plus fitting so will get that done. But will get them to check the sensors you have mentioned.

Also my temp gauge is at the bottom and engine fan continuously on. Have had a new thermostat so is this problem related to a coolant sensor. Thanks.

Hi Leedsman,

I have checked with Chrysler, mine is a 2002, CRD so does not have this feedback sensor.

Any further ideas and why is my Cooling fan continuously on?
My AC is switched off, but still the fan is on.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help?
Many thanks,

Hi Leeds man, update,

I have changed the egr valve and I have a reduced flat spot, better response from the engine and no smoke when starting from cold.

However the eml light still comes on at 70 mph when accelerating. Goes back off when I either increase speed or decrease it.

No fault codes.

Turbo?
Air mass sensor?
Any other reason?

Thanking anyone in advance for help or advice. Ta.

Hi All,

Problem Solved, Fault Codes cleared and EML Light does not come on anymore.

Joy, the EGR Valve was apparently sticking so was inefficient.
Many thanks for all the replies.
My Chrysler Grand Voyager is running perfect now!
