Hi, new guy code 0456!!!
Hi I signed up quite a ways back but have had noooo issues up until now. I own an 05 Pacifica. 72,8XX miles on it. Never changed the brakes, finally changed the plugs and belt a few weeks ago and cleaned the throttle body. Great great car, so far.
I've checked all the hoses on the top side of the motor, they seem good. I replaced the gas cap too. Wife is reporting that when her gas gauge gets to halfway it fluctuates between empty and half, and the 'miles to go' display goes crazy as well. And she says when she removes the gas cap there is no "whoosh" sound like before. I told her to ignore that and rely on the miles on her trip display.
Is my fuel pump going bad? Is it a hose on top of the gas tank? I used to drive an old carburated Blazer so I'm a little green with this car,but I'm determined to fix this.
Thanks for reading my novel.....

The problem with the intermittent fluctuation is, you can really never be sure which level unit it is. Probably a good idea to just do both pumps whenever it gets so you can tolerate it anymore. Shouldn't be any difference in labor

I drove the wifes car and finally saw the gas gauge drop from half to empty. But only after I hit the brakes for a red light. When I accelerated it went back to half , and then dropped and stayed on empty the next time I hit the brakes. I'm guessing sticking float on one of the pumps?
As far as the 0456 code, I crawled under the car and traced the hoses to the top of the passenger side tank as far as I could, and apparently me running my hands up in there was enough to make the odometer read GASCAP when I started the car up afterward. So I'm guessing my problem is on top of the tank anyways.... So I'll be busy Saturday.
I'll try to remember to take pictures and do a writeup if anyone is interested.

The hose that runs between the two pumps "shrunk". I think it's a vent. Anyway it put pressure on the nipple on the jet pump and broke it. It was still connected, but leaking.
I was leaving on a 1600 mile road trip the next day and couldn't wait for the dealer to repair it so I dropped the exhaust and fuel tank, cut the hose in half and added a 1 inch section of fuel line and JB Welded the nipple. It took about an hour....
It was supposed to be a temp fix and it's still holding after more than two years. So I spent $8 instead of a $1000.
Always a good day!!!

agree. always a good day when you find a nugget like that. sounds like a notorious Chrysler shortcoming...have you experienced the flickering lights condition? now at 105k, this has started. dealer wants to redo the wiring harness at $4k. quickly losing any remaining respect for Chrysler. my father worked for Chrysler and we've had dodge, Plymouth, Chryslers since 1964.

I hope I'm not jinxing my car….. We bought this car brand new, it now has 103,000 miles on it. I JUST recently did the front brakes. In August I replaced the motor mounts, and the fuel tank repair.
Other than periodically cleaning the intake, and a spark plug change for ****s and grins I have had virtually no problems with this car.
I went to the dealer one time with my car. I received a coupon from the dealer for free windshield wipers with an oil change. They tried to charge me $30 for the wipers. Well, they were free, but the install was $30. I walked out, took them off of the car, placed them on the counter and told them you owe me $50 for removing them. Never went back, never heard from them again.
Good luck with yours. Mine went a little haywire way back when, turned out the battery in the key fob was dead. Give it a try, 4 G's is too rich for me…….
