Default A hissing sound when brakes are applied

This is no joke and this issue just recently started happening. We have a 2008 T&C with 102,000 miles on it and the issue is when the brakes are applied I hear a hissing sound coming from the back right part of the van. The hissing sound will last as long as the brakes are applied and once I take my foot off the brake the hissing sound stops.

I've checked for leaks and there are none. I e checked the brake pads and all are fine. The hissing sound is intermittent and is at its worse after driving at highway speeds. I'm sure hoping someone has an idea as to what I'm dealing with. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

The only time I hear the hissing sound is when I apply the brakes. It seems to be worse after driving at highway speeds and the duration is longer.

No. The sound is not present when sitting still while pressing the on the brake. The hissing sound will end just prior to the van coming to a complete stop.

Hi Okie,

I was unable to find any TSBs related to the concern you described. I would recommend having a technician inspect the vehicle. Let me know if you would like assistance in scheduling an appointment with your local dealership. I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

You said 102,000 miles are on the car. How many miles on those rear pads?. You might want to consider pulling the caliper off back there and look at it closely. Do the rotors show any signs of strange wear? Like a groove or rough area?
