Default Neon 97 oil on 1 spark plug at service time

Hi ther I serviced my Neon yesterday and found spark plug 2 from the left side of the car had some oil on the spark plug (spark end). I suspect this is bad news.

My father who owned the car prior said he has always seen a little oil on that plug over the last 10 years.

It never fails the emissions test at the test time.

It reads at last test:

CO Level at 2699rpm, 0.08% (MAX permissable 0.20%)
HC level at 2699rpm, 3ppm (MAX permissable 200)

So I cannot imagine that it is burning much oil< I might put about 1/2 a cup ina year top up (It's done 75,000 miles, by my dad and myself driving sensibly, no boy racer type driving) and there is no smokeyness to the exhaust and it smells quite clean.

Any ideas ?

many thanks.

I ask cause I soon need breaks pads and disks allround (well at least at the front I need new disks) and if I am gonna spend £250.00 then I hope the car engine is not going to pop too soon after lol.

Just to add I went out and checked and the new plug was bone dry so it seems not to be as serious as I suspected. Cool.
